Champagne Charlier & Fils : A VINEYARD IN THE HEART OF THE MARNE VALLEY

The vineyards of la maison de Champagne Charlier & Fils are located on both banks of the Marne Valley, in a landscape of vines, rivers and forests, allowing the cultivation of the three main grape varieties of the Champagne appellation (Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).

A vineyard BETWEEN EPERNAY AND DORMANS IN THE MARNE REGION

The estate is right in the heart of the Marne Valley. The steep slopes and chalky soil produce grapes with a pronounced character and inimitable flavour.

Our vineyards are located in the communes of Montigny-sous-Châtillon, Châtillon sur Marne, Mareuil le Port, Jonquery, Cuisles, Courthiézy and Oeuilly and are planted on two types of soil: limestone for finesse and clay-limestone for the roundness of the wines.

Our vineyards are spread over 41 plots, on 5 hillsides very close to our family estate. Pinot Noir (11%), Chardonnay (20%) and especially Pinot Meunier (69%) are grown here. This last grape variety, typical of our geographical area, expresses itself with finesse in our cuvées. It gives them subtle aromas, providing an incomparable suppleness and fruitiness that delight the palate.

Each season, we perfect our work on the vines using sustainable growing methods: fertilisation with natural micro-organisms, grassing, ploughing, etc. These steps are part of our desire to create a living soil that allows our grapes to express themselves naturally within our beautiful Champagne terroir.
